King of the Gibichungs, married to Queen Grimhilde, father of Gunther and Gutrune, stepfather to Grimhild's illegitimate son with the dwarf Alberich, Hagen. He is preseumably dead by Gotterdammerung, as Gunther is ruling the Gibichungs.
