A Giant and brother of Fafner. The two Giants build Valhalla for Wotan. Fasolt wants Freia as payment, due to her beauty. When Wotan refuses to give Freia, Fasolt threatens to destroy Wotan's power, which is derived from contracts. However Fasolt is convinced by Fafner to agree to accept the treasure of the dwarf Alberich instead. After the Gods bring the treasure the Giants argue over the division of treasure, Fasolt wants equal shares but Fafner says Fasolt was less willing then him to give up Freia. Fasolt asks the Gods to help divide the treasure and Loge advises him to take the ring while Fafner keeps the rest, but when he does so Fafner kills him.
